Summer Dance Camp will be June 21/22.
This camp is designed for students between the grades
of Kindergarten through 8th grade. The Camp will be
at the Excelsior Middle School fro 9am-noon both
Monday and Tuesday. Registration will be sent home
with Elementary aged students and 6-8 graders will
need to pick up a registration from their Middle
School office.

Congratulations to the squad for landing a top five and top ten finish at the UDA National Dance Competition! For the first time in squad history, the squad earned a top five finish at Nationals, placing 3rd with their pom routine along with a very impressive 6th place showing with their jazz routine! On Friday, December 5th, the squad traveled to Des
Moines for the annual ISDTA competition. Under very
tough cometition, the squad placed 1st in their Pom,
Jazz and Hip Hop routines - a feat unmatched in squad
history! Also, for the third consecutive year, the
squad was awarded one of the distinguished Judge's
Choice Award for their Jazz routine. This award is
only given to three routines each year and was
selected from the over 200 routines that were
performed that day!

Under very tough and heavy competition, Linn Mar had

For the fourth consecutive year, the squad attended the
UDA Elite Camp in Bloomington, Illinois. This
camp, held June 29th through July 2nd, drew many top
squads throughout the Midwest. During the camp, the
squads competed with a home routine. Once again this
year, the girls had a spectacular showing, bringing home four trophies and, for the second year running, placed 1st in the large group category. The stage has been set for a very exciting year! Great job, girls!!

The squad participated in a thrilling competition at the UDA National Dance Championship on February 2nd and 3rd in Orlando, FL. For the first time in recent history, they made the finals with both their Pom and Jazz routines, and placed 10th and 11th in the nation, respectively, under extremely tough competition! Congratulations to the Linn Mar Varsity Pom Squad for
bringing home the 1st place trophy, for the second
year running, at the annual Westdale Spirit
Competition on August 25, 20007! The girls were faced with a lot of great local competition and pulled off a spectacular performance to secure victory. Also, special
congratulations go to the Linn Mar JV Pom Squad who
also brought home the 1st place trophy in their
division!

For the third consecutive year, the squad attended a

squads from many states. During the camp, the squads
competed with a home routine. This year, the girls had

powerhouses, Lake Forest and Eden Prairie, both of
which placed above Linn Mar at the February 2007 Nationals competition in Orlando, FL. The stage has been set for a very exciting year...way to go, girls!

Tryouts begin Tuesday at 3:30-6pm at Westfield. Same
time and place for Wednesday.

Wow! 7th in the nation! The Linn Mar Poms
participated in a thrilling competition at nationals
in Walt Disney World this year. They competed on
Saturday, February 3rd, in the Large Varsity Poms and Jazz
divisions. Advancement to the finals in the Pom
division was a nail biter as Linn Mar was the last
team to be announced as a finalist (although they are
not listed in any particular order). The girls took
advantage on Sunday February 4th, and gave a dazzling performance that pushed them all the way up to 7th! Congratulations girls! Click on the word "Link" below.

Dec 1st, 2006 - The Linn Mar Pom squad competed with Jazz, Pom and Hip-hop routines at state this year. The girls made an extremely impressive showing taking 1st place (out of 12 schools) with their Pom routine and 1st place (out of 12 schools) with their Jass routine. Both categories were extrememly competitive and the judges, in particular, indicated they were very impressed by all the schools in their jazz division. In their Hip-Hop division, the Linn Mar team took 2nd place (out of 10 schools). Best of all, for the first time in Linn Mar Pom history, the team received a distinguished Judges Choice Award. This award is only given to three routines from the over 200 hundred routines performed the entire day of competition. Linn Mar Poms - you are AWESOME!!!

For the second consecutive year, the poms attended an
Elite UDA Camp in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. This
camp, held on June 25th through June 28th, draws top squads from many states. During the camp, the squads compete with a home routine. This year, the girls did an awesome job and were extremely pleased to take third place with their pom routine.

The Linn Mar Poms competed with a pom routine at the
annual Westdale Spirit Competition on Saturday,
August 26th, 2006. They proved that they are a force
to be reckoned with by taking first place in their
division. Also, winning the Best Choreography award proved what we all knew...the seniors ROCK!!! Great job girls!!!

The Varsity Poms performed their Camp Routine at this
competition and took third place.

A HUGE congratulations goes out to the Varsity Poms for
receiving 1st place in Pom and 2nd place in Jazz!!
Regionals this year was held at the Mall of America in
Minnesota. The girls did absolutely amazing, they all
should be very proud of themselves!

Congratulations to the Varsity Poms who received 1st place
in jazz and 1st place in pom at the 2004 Iowa State
Dance/Drill Team Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. This
is a first time ever achievement! Awesome job girls!

The poms recently returned from the State Solo Compeition
in Pella, Iowa. Soloists included: Melissa Brendes, Stacey
Hamilton, Emily Hauser, Jessica Purdy, and Lora
Schmuecker. Division I Ratings went out to Melissa
Brendes, Stacey Hamilton, Jessica Purdy and Lora Schmuecker(also placed fifth). All girls did an amazing job, and congratulations to all who competed.

The second annual Linn-mar Pom Parents Golf Outing (we are working on a better name) was played at Gardner Golf course on Sunday the 3rd of October. It was a beautiful day and everyone had a lot of fun. Three teams of 3 players competing in a 3 man best-shot format fought tooth and nail for the not yet created trophy. The team of Galen, Paul & Doug won with a score of one under par 71. They finished eagle, birdie, birdie on the last three holes with an impressive display of firepower. Kevin, Kerry & Craig finished 2nd with a score of 72. This group had the best "thirst" for the game. Dennis, Bob & Wally finished 3rd with a score of 74. The whole day was a blast and we are planning on another outing as soon as possible with the hopes of getting more parents involved. Click on the link below to view the score cards.

The Varsity Poms performed their Camp Routine at this
competition, receiving Best Choreography out of all
performing teams. The routine was choreographed by:
Melissa Brendes, Jessica Fuller, and Lora Schmuecker. The
whole team is very proud about this first-time award.

Congratulations to both the Linn-Mar Varsity and Junior
Varsity squads. They returned from the UDA camp in Dekalb,
Illinois with two first place trophies. Varsity received
the Drill Down trophy along with a Superior trophy and a
perfect score with their home routine. Kuddos to Kelsey
Anderson, of the Junior Varisty, for receiving the honor of
being the Drill Down Queen.
The Varsity also received, for the first time ever, the
honorary Leadership Award which is voted on through the
whole camp.

The Linn-Mar poms returned from the UDA Dance Competition
in Orlando, Florida with a semi-final finish in poms. The
competition was extremely tough this year. We are very
proud of their hard work and sportsmanship.

It's off to the UDA National Dance Competition in Orlando,
Florida. The poms leave on Thursday January 29th. The
competition will be on Saturday and semi-finals and finals
are Sunday

Congratulations to the poms for finishing 1st in the Jazz
category and 2nd in the Pom category at the Iowa State
Dance/Drill Team Competition The competition was held at
Veterans' Auditorium in Des Moines on December 5th.

Rachel Reid finished third and Melissa Brendes, McKenzie
Koch, and Lora Schmuecker received honorable mention at the
State Solo Competition at the Pella High School in Pella,
Iowa on Nov 1.

The poms competed in the annual Westdale Mall Competition
on Saturday, August 23. They finished in first place in the
Pom category in Linn-Mar's division. Way to go!

The 2003-04 Pom squad is off to a great start. The varsity
and junior varsity squads each won first place at the UDA
camp in DeKalb, Illinois on July 27th. A special
congratulations to Melissa Stephens for winning drill-down
queen.

The Linn-Mar Poms performed at the UDA National Dance
Competition in Orlando, Florida on February 1st & 2nd. They
advanced to the finals in both Jazz and Poms. They finished
6th in the nation in Jazz and 13th in the nation in Poms.
It was an incredible weekend.
Way to go girls!!!

The poms will be competing in the UDA camp competition in
DeKalb, Illinios this Thursday, the 22nd of July. We wish
them luck.
